Clinical Study of Oriental Medicine Treatment with Bee Venom Therpy of the Extrusion type of Herniated Disc Patient


Abstract
Purpose: Inorder to study clinical results of Oriental Medicine Treatment with Bee Venom therpy of the extrusion type of herniated Disc patient needed operation
Subjects: This author researched 12 patients who were treated at Won Kwang University Kunpo Hospital¡¤Oriental Medial Center from July 1998 to March 1999. The patients were diagnosed by MRI as having extusion type of herniated Disc.
Methods: We investigated the distribution of sex and age, herniated lumbar disc level, cause of getting sick, onset, duation of admission, 50% improvement of pain by Bee Venom therpy, effect of treatment, follow up, effect of follow up treatment.
Results: 1.Male (58.3%), Female(41.7%). The highest age distribution of patients was 30-40s(66.7%)
2. Distribution of herniated lumbar Disc level was L4/5 (50%), L5/S1(25%), L3/4(8.3%), L4/5 L5/S1(8.3%), L2/3 L3/4 L4/5(8.3%).
3. The causes of herniation were sprain(41.7%), labour(25%), unknown origin(16.7%), exercise(8.3%), contusion(8.3%).
4. Distribution of onset was 1-10days(50%), 11-20days(25%), over 1month(16.7%), 21-30days(8.3%).
5. Distribution of admission was 11-20days(50%), 21-30days(25%), 1-10days(16.7%), over 1month(8.3%).
6. Distribution of 50% improvement of pain by Bee Venom therapy was 4-6th(58.3%), 1-3th(16.7%), 7-9th(8.3%).
7. Effect of treatment during admission was Exellent(8.3%), Good(50%), Fair(25%), Poor(16.7%).
8. Distribution of follow up(66.7%), non-follow up(16.7%), operation(16.7%).
9. Effect of treatment by follow up was Exellent(50%), Good(25%), Fair(25%), Poor(o%).
